1.1       The Foundation for Arable Research Incorporated(trading as NZ Grown Grains for the purposes of https://nzgrowngrains.nz/) (FAR, we,us) owns and operates the “New Zealand Grown Grains” website located at https://nzgrowngrains.nz/ (Website).

1.2       FAR is committed to protecting the privacy of all users of the Website. This privacy policy (Policy) sets out our privacy practices in relation to this Website and how we comply with the requirements of the Privacy Act 2020 (Act).

2.         Collection and use of personal information

2.1       We will collect your name and email address directly from you when you submit an enquiry to us via our Website. This is to allow us to respond to your enquiry. Please note that if you do not provide this information to us, we will be unable to respond to you.  

3.         Who we may disclose your personal information to

3.1       We may disclose your personal information to:

(a)         Any business that supports our services and products on an as-needed basis, including any person that hosts or maintains any underlying IT system or data centre that we use to provide the Website or any of our other services.

(b)         A person who can require us to supply yourpersonal information (such as a regulatory or government authority).

(c)         Any other person authorised by the Act or another law (such as a law enforcement agency).

(d)         Any other person authorised by you.

3.2       We will not sell your personal information to any third party.

4.         Your rights in relation to your personal information

4.1       Under the Act, you have the following rights:

(a)         The right to access personal information heldby us about you. This right is subject to certain grounds for our refusal as outlined in the Act.

(b)         The right to request corrections to thepersonal information that we hold about you. Should you request a correction, we will make the correction should the correction be reasonable and we are reasonably able to make it. If we are unable to, we will take reasonable steps to note the requested correction in our records against your data.

4.2       If you would like to exercise the above rights, please contact our Privacy Officer using the details set out at the end in clause 7. In your message, please clearly state what information you are requesting, provide evidence of your identity, and notify us of anything else you deem relevant to your request. Please note that, in considering your request, we may need to request additional information from you in order to verify your identity prior to acting on your request.

5.         Privacy breaches

5.1       If we become aware of a privacy breach involvingyour personal information, we will:

(a)         assess the breach to determine whether it amounts to a notifiable privacy breach (as that phrase is defined in the Act);

(b)         investigate the cause and effects of the breach;and

(c)         take reasonable steps to prevent similar breaches from occurring again in the future.

5.2       Where the breach is assessed as being a notifiable privacy breach (that is, it is likely to cause serious harm), we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and (subject to any appropriate exceptions applying) the affected individuals of the breach in accordance with the requirements of the Act.

6.1       Please note that we may make changes to this Policy at any time by uploading a revised Policy onto the Website. Any changes will be effective from the date that the revised Policy is uploaded. We encourage you to review the Policy regularly for the latest information on our privacy practices.
